Wilson and Poly picked up big Moore League wins last week. The Bruins beat Cabrillo 18-1 and the Jackrabbits doubled up Lakewood 12-6.

After a much-needed bye week, Wilson went to work and did not look back while midfielder Harrison McElwain scored a game-high six goals and dished out an assist.

“Shooting was pretty on point today,” I think the whole team just did a really good job passing the ball around,” McElwain said.

For Cabrillo, defender Alex Serrano was the star with a total of 12 ground balls and seven forced turnovers.

“I just want the boys to get out there compete and have fun each game and doesn’t necessarily show up in the scoreboard,” said Cabrillo coach Shane Gonzales. “But I want them to have fun.”

In the other game, Poly bounced back from a loss to Millikan and beat Lakewood 12-6 thanks in part to career-high seven goals and five ground balls from Mason Peterson.

“I think today I did well on aggressiveness, just like really pacing towards the cage and just going full

power,” Peterson said. “(We need to improve on) different shots and different angles so we get more opportunities around the field for myself and my team.”

“We really have just come into our own and are starting to figure out our offense,” Poly coach John Gabriel said.

Lakewood attacker Andrew Pacheco scored a team-high four goals and added a pair of assists.

Pacheco said his team needs to keep, “Communicating and passing the ball around, just passing it to let everyone get in touch successfully. We communicated later in the game and it needs to be done earlier.
