Hamilton Sneaks By Muir in All-City Middle School Division 3 Boys’ Soccer Championship

With the sun scorching down on the field, the LBUSD All-City Middle School Division 3 Boys’ Soccer championship kicked off in the afternoon heat. The weather was merely a sign for how the game would go: a heated back-and-forth match that was a fight down to the wire.

Early in the championship, Muir’s Jonathen Loza put one away on a fast break and set the mood for what would evolve into a competitive match.

When the time in the first half started winding down, Hamilton decided it was their turn and got redemption with Dominique Trejo scoring off a foul at the top of the eighteen. The half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Going into the second half both teams had a handful of shots on goal but only one broke through. Trejo scored his second of the match for Hamilton, which proved to be the difference maker.

After the match, Hamilton Head Coach Jesse Sarabia voiced his appreciation for his boys being able to come together as a team.

“[These players] came from rivaling clubs and had to learn to be a cohesive unit,” Sarabia said.

Overcoming challenges, Sarabia said he is proud of how his team united and stayed focus on a common goal. In just his first year at Hamilton, Sarabia led the Wolverines to the All-City title and will look to repeat that success again in the future.
