HIGH SCHOOL

Ava Schaffel, Millikan Softball

The senior San Diego State commit was lights out in a big win over Lakewood last week, striking out seven and only allowing four hits, the first of which didn’t come until late in the fifth inning.

Anthony Pack, Millikan Baseball

Anthony Pack had a big-time performance in Millikan’s 3-1 win over Poly last week. Pack was 3/4 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and 2 runs scored for the Rams as he proved why he’s one of the top-rated players nationally in the junior class.

Steven Mendoza, St. Anthony Baseball

Steven Mendoza led the way for St. Anthony in a victory over Cantwell Sacred Heart, hitting 2/3 with an RBI double, an RBI single, and a walk. The win gave the Saints a series win over their Camino Real League foes.

Marek Turner, Wilson Volleyball

Wilson picked up a big win over Poly last week to put them in first place in the Moore League all by themselves. UCLA commit Marek Turner was a big reason why, as he put up 21 kills to help lead the Bruins to a win.

Nathan Brava-Partain, Long Beach Poly Golf

Senior Nathan Brava-Partain had a big week for the Jackrabbits, winning the Millikan Invitational and also putting up the low score in a match against Wilson.

Sammie Hamilton, Wilson Swim

Wilson senior Kentucky signee Sammie Hamtilon was sensational in leading the Bruins to a win at the Klaus Barth Invitational last week. Hamilton won the 200 and 500 freestyle races and set new meet records in both events, swimming 1:49.15 and 4:47.98, both several seconds faster than second place. She also swam on Wilson’s winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
