The Millikan football team landed in the Division 7 bracket of the CIF Southern Section playoffs following Sunday’s bracket release. The Rams will travel to face La Cañada on Friday in the first round.
The placement comes after Millikan controlled its own playoff destiny in Friday’s regular-season finale, dominating Wilson in a 42-0 shutout to claim second place in the Moore League and secure an automatic playoff berth. The Rams finished the regular season with a 3-7 overall record, with all three wins coming against Moore League opponents Jordan, Lakewood and Wilson.
La Cañada finished the regular season with an 8-2 overall record as the undefeated Arroyo League champions. The Spartans are coming off a non-league loss to Crescenta Valley in their regular-season finale but had won four straight games prior to that. The Spartans return to Division 7 after earning a playoff win in the division last year against West Covina.
Millikan drops two divisions from last year, when the Rams competed in Division 5 and fell to Aliso Niguel, 7-6, in the first round. The winner of Friday’s matchup will advance to face either Pacifica or Barstow in the second round.
