Baseball: Long Beach Poly Beats Cabrillo, Millikan Tops Jordan

The Moore League baseball season continued into its second day of games on Friday with another doubleheader at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field. Long Beach Poly got a win over Cabrillo followed by Millikan picking up a W over Jordan.

Long Beach Poly 6, Cabrillo 0

The Jackrabbits scored a pair in the first and four in the fourth and got a three-hit performance over five innings from starting pitcher Jacob Mason, who walked four and struck out four. 

Sebastian Morales sacrificed in a run to start the scoring in the first, and then Nate Berumen singled in a pair of runs in the fourth. Tate Hammond’s sac fly plated another for the Jackrabbits. Morales finished the day 2/2 with 3 RBIs. 

The Jackrabbits face St. Anthony Saturday morning at 11am.

Millikan 11, Jordan 0

Millikan had three pitchers combine to give up one hit in a shutout effort to grab the win. JJ Nielsen had the hit for the Panthers, with Nolan Patterson (1 IP), Evan Martinez, and Ari Farrell (1 IP) pounding the strike zone for the Rams. The trio walked two while striking out seven.

Offensively, Millikan was led by Connor Patton, who went ⅔ with an RBI, as well as Farrell, who was ⅓ with a run and 2 RBIs. Eight Rams recorded a hit, five recorded an RBI, and 10 came home to score in a balanced offensive effort.
