ROUNDUP: CIF-SS Girls’ Basketball First Round

The 2024 CIF-SS girls’ basketball playoffs tipped off on Thursday night, and things went perfectly for the five Long Beach schools. Here’s how all the local teams fared, with links to expanded coverage from Long Beach Poly and Lakewood.

DIVISION 1

Long Beach Poly 73, Chaminade 48

St. Anthony 68, Great Oak 50

The Saints picked up a big win to open the playoffs and will now host Crean Lutheran in Saturday’s second round.

Lakewood 58, Northview 31

Jordan 64, Mayfair 28

The Panthers made the short drive to Lakewood and earned their 20th win of the season to advance to Saturday’s second round. J-Town will be hosting La Serna.

Millikan 55, Garey 36

The Rams went all the way to Pomona for a first-round win. They will host St. Margaret’s on Saturday in round two.
