Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week and thanks to the Long Beach Century Club and Naples Rib Company for their support.

HIGH SCHOOL

Josiah “JoJo” Apisala, St. Anthony Football

Josiah “JoJo” Apisala arrived at St. Anthony from Valley Christian this offseason, and head coach Raul Lara said he thought the junior could be “something special.” He was on Friday with 60 yards rushing and a touchdown plus a tackle for a safety to represent the first points scored at the new Clark Field stadium

Jarret Nielsen, Jordan Football

Jordan QB Jarret Nielsen put up crazy, record-setting numbers in Jordan’s season-opening win over North. Nielsen was 30/37 for 548 yards and five touchdowns, with the yardage total setting a new Long Beach single-game record according to Cal-Hi Sports.

Chloe Pravednikov, Wilson Volleyball

Wilson senior and Pepperdine commit Chloe Pravednikov is hoping to go out with a bang in her last year with the Bruins. Wilson planted their flag as the team to beat in the Moore League last weekend, taking third place in the Division 1 gold bracket at the Lakewood/Molten Tournament, one spot over Lakewood (who they beat for third) and two spots over Poly. Pravednikov led the way for the Bruins over two weekends.

COLLEGE

Elysia Laramie, Long Beach State Soccer

Redshirt senior Elysia Laramie has been a defensive star for the Beach, but last weekend she was record-setting on the other side of the field. She scored a program-record four goals in a 4-2 win over Boston College, and also had a goal against No. 15 Texas.
