It’s been obvious all year to anyone who’s been paying attention that Lakewood’s track and field program is building something from the ground up. The Lancers proved just how bright their future is on Saturday at the CIFSS Division 1 Track and Field Finals at Moorpark.

The Lancers quartet of Amaya Rice, Jai’ya Jones, sophomore Naleyah Davis, and freshman Brooklyn Lee finished seventh in a time of 47.18.

Even more impressive were the placements that Jones and Rice brought home individually in the sprints, with Jones taking 3rd in the 100 and 5th in the 200, while Rice finished 4th and 9th.

With Jones a junior and Rice a sophomore, there’s no doubt that 2024 will be the Lancers’ most anticipated track season in recent memory.
