Massive Long Beach Baseball Preview

The562’s season previews for the 2022-23 school year are sponsored by Vertical Raise, the official team fundraising partner of The562.

It was a historic–and historically exciting–high school baseball season in Long Beach last year. We said it would be some of the best top-end talent the city had seen over the last decade, and last weekend proved us right, with four true freshmen (Anthony Eyanson at UCSD, Charlie Royle at Cal Poly, Sam DeCarlo at Washington, and Myles Patton with the Dirtbags) getting starts on their first weekend as college baseball players.

Last year’s talent-loaded senior class is gone, with only two returning first team All-Moore League players, leaving the door open for what should be an exciting high school baseball season. The city is still packed with talent, as this year’s photo shoot at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field showed us, and the coaching ranks are strong across the board as well.

We’ve got everything you need to get you ready for the action on the diamond, with previews and projected lineups for every team in the city. Softball fans, your time is coming–and soon. We’ll have our comprehensive softball preview up tomorrow.
