Football: Long Beach Poly Reschedules Opener Over COVID-19 Concerns

One week until the start of the high school football season and a second Moore League school has had a shutdown over COVID-19 positives. Long Beach Poly football coach Stephen Barbee confirmed that his team canceled a planned scrimmage this week over a positive COVID-19 positive test, and will not play next week’s season opener against Leuzinger.

Poly and Leuzinger had the same bye week and will now play in week four at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Jackrabbits will not host practice until August 23rd. Poly will now open its season on August 27 on the road against Serra.

Lakewood had previously had a COVID-19 shutdown and had to cancel their planned first-week game against St. Anthony due to insufficient practice time.
