CIF Girls’ Soccer Preview: Millikan, St. Anthony At Home Today

Moore League champion Millikan and Camino Real League champion St. Anthony are both hosting first round CIF Southern Section girls’ soccer games today.

Millikan (15-5-1) got a tough draw as the lowest seeded league champion in Division 1, and will host JSerra (13-4-0) at 3 p.m. on campus. This is a rematch of the second-round game at Millikan last year where the Rams were minutes away from a penalty kick shootout and possible upset.

Wilson (14-4-3) is also in Division 1 and hits the road for a 3 p.m. kickoff at Cypress (14-6-1) in a matchup of second-place league finishers. Cypress is unbeaten in its last eight games with seven wins and a draw.

Long Beach Poly (14-4-2) has a lot of momentum as a third-place finisher, and will be at Temecula Valley (17-2-5) at 5:30 p.m. for the postseason opener. Temecula Valley is the Southwestern League champion and has only given up 14 goals in 24 games this season.

Lakewood (7-10-0) got into the Division 2 bracket as a fourth-place league finisher and must travel to Palomares League champion Claremont (19-1-1).

St. Anthony (9-9-0) is celebrating its back-to-back league championships with a home game at Clark Field against wild-card Brentwood. The Saints have won six of their last seven games. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
