Kristin Berry, Wilson Soccer
Wilson senior captain Kristin Berry has brought the Bruins to the cusp of a Moore League championship. Berry scored a goal in the third minute against Millikan to help the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the defending league champions.
Rob Diaz, Millikan Basketball
Millikan sophomore Rob Diaz played hero for the Rams last week, with a buzzer-beater against Compton to give Millikan a 57-56 victory that keeps them in second place and in the Moore League title hunt behind Long Beach Poly. Diaz had a game-high 23 points in the game.
Steven Larios, Jordan Soccer
Jordan stayed in the playoff hunt with a critical win over defending league champion Wilson last week. It was thanks to goalie Steven Larios, who saved a Bruins PK in the first half; the Panthers would win on a PK of their own in the second half.
COLLEGE
Colin Slater, Long Beach State Basketball
Junior Colin Slater led Long Beach State with 19 points and added three assists with no turnovers in 35 minutes as Men’s Basketball dropped UC Irvine in the Black and Blue Rivalry.
