Athlete of the Week Avalon Compton Football Golf Lakewood Millikan St. Anthony Volleyball Wilson’s Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship.

Joshua Robinson-Little, Millikan Football

Millikan linebacker Joshua Robinson-Little had a huge game for the Rams in a much-needed win over Cabrillo last week. Robinson-Little forced and recovered a pair of fumbles, and also had an interception he took back for a touchdown.

Adalberto Martinez, Avalon Football

Avalon junior Adalberto Martinez had 320 yards and five touchdowns in a league win for the Lancers last week. Martinez has 1,625 receiving yards in eight games this year, the most of any player in the nation in 8-man football, according to MaxPreps.

Allen Monroe Jr., Compton Football

Compton isn’t known for its passing attack, and the team only had one throw all night against Lakewood. But Allen Monroe Jr.’s touchdown pass at the end of the game gave Compton its first win over the Lancers since 1997 and made him the hero of the night.

Laura Williams, Lakewood Volleyball

Lakewood won two playoff games to advance to this week’s quarterfinals thanks to a balanced offensive effort. Sophomore Laura Williams helped lead the Lancers with nine kills in the first round and 15 kills in the second round.

Isabella Bareford, St. Anthony Volleyball

St. Anthony senior setter Isabella Bareford, an LMU commit, has had another excellent season this year. Last week she helped set the Saints to a pair of playoff wins in sweeps, as they outscored their two opponents 150-103.

Alyson Sor, Wilson Golf

Wilson freshman Alyson Sor became the second consecutive 9th grade Bruin to win the Moore League individual championship last week. Sor won the title by beating last year’s champion, her teammate Emi Sverduk, on the final hole. Sor made par on the 18th at Skylinks with a 76 in the final round.
