HIGH SCHOOL

Persjah Lam Sam, Long Beach Poly Softball

Persjah Lam Sam led the Jackrabbits en route to an 18-hit 10-6 win over Lakewood. The senior went 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and run in the win.

Tegan Breaux, Long Beach Poly Softball

Tegan Breaux did it all for Long Beach Poly against Lakewood. In the circle, Breaux pitched a complete game and went 3-for-4 on offense with two RBIs, including a solo home run versus the Lancers. 

Riley McAndrew, Millikan Softball

The Millikan Rams picked up a big Moore League softball win in a 6-1 final score against Long Beach Poly. Riley McAndrew pitched a complete game for the Rams, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five. On offense, McAndrew was 1-for-1 with a triple, two walks and two runs scored for her team.

Noe Perez, Compton Boys’ Lacrosse

Compton boys’ lacrosse picked up a huge win in double-overtime against Long Beach Poly. Noe Perez had a hat trick in the gritty 7-6 win, including dishing the game-winning assist.

Damian Gonzalez, Compton Boys’ Lacrosse 

Freshman Damian Gonzalez was living the dream for the Compton Tarbabes this week. Gonzalez put away the game-winner in double overtime en route to picking up a big win against Long Beach Poly.

COLLEGE

Madison Le, LBSU Women’s Golf

Senior Madison Le set a program record for Long Beach State Women’s Golf. Le opened the Big West Championship with nine birdies and no bogeys, breaking the program record for a single round with a nine-under par 63.

Elissa Guerrero, LBSU Softball

Long Beach State Softball wrapped up their weekend with a road sweep against Cal Poly. Elissa Guerrero capped off the sweep with a solo shot in the ninth inning to secure the final win 3-2, earning Big West Freshman of the Week for her performance.

Nina Fife
Nina Fife is a junior at Pepperdine University double majoring in Journalism and English with a writing and rhetoric emphasis. She began working with The562 in the inaugural intern class before being hired as their Social Media Director and now Assistant Editor. Nina is a proud Long Beach schools alum who graduated with valedictorian honors.
