Long Beach Baseball Club Announces Semifinalists in Team-Naming Contest

The Long Beach Baseball Club announced its six semifinalists after receiving more than 1,300 submissions to its team-naming contest. Public voting is open through Wednesday, October 15, to help narrow down the name for the new independent professional baseball team that plans to debut in Long Beach in 2026.

Semifinalists: The Long Beach Coast, Cruisers, Grit, Groove, Parrots, and Regulators.

You can vote on the team’s website here: Longbeachbaseballclub.com. Six in-person voting locations are also available at various locations throughout the city: the Long Beach Airport, Joe Jost’s, SteelCraft (Long Beach), District 4 Pizza, Riley’s on 2nd Street and ISM Brewing & Kitchen.

The Long Beach Baseball Club will evaluate the results and conduct an internal review before determining the finalists. Another round of voting will begin on October 22, after which the Club will start developing the team’s logo and branding. The official name and designs are scheduled to be announced in January 2026.

The baseball team will be the first pro team in Long Beach since the Armada in 2009. Several other teams set foot in Long Beach before then including locally recognized names like the Riptides, the Barracuda, and the Breakers.

The Long Beach City Council unanimously approved the Long Beach Baseball Club in July, and the team will join the Pioneer Baseball League with the aim of beginning play in May 2026. The team is working with Long Beach State in hopes of reaching an agreement to make Bohl Diamond at Blair Field its home.
