After two years as St. Anthony’s athletic director, Vince Nolasco stepped down to take the same position at his alma mater, Salesian.
“I am truly blessed and honored to be the new Athletic Director at my alma mater,” Nolasco said. “It was a difficult decision due to St. Anthony is a wonderful school community. After prayer and reflection, I decided to take the opportunity to lead the athletic department at my alma mater.”
Nolasco announced his departure in a message to the St. Anthony community on June 30, thanking the school for the opportunity to lead its athletic department and reflecting on the accomplishments of the student-athletes, coaches and staff during his time with the Saints.
“St. Anthony is a truly special Catholic high school community, and it has been an absolute privilege to lead its athletic department,” Nolasco wrote. “Thank you again for your endless support during these past two school years. St. Anthony will always hold a very special place in my heart.”
The Saints enjoyed success both academically and athletically during Nolasco’s tenure. A total of 431 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, while 32 teams finished with a cumulative GPA above 3.0. St. Anthony also had 18 teams recognized as CIF Southern Section Team Academic Award honorable mention selections over the past two school years.
St. Anthony captured five league championships during his tenure while producing 148 All-League selections and eight league MVPs. The Saints earned 14 All-CIF Southern Section honors, while three teams advanced to CIF-SS championship games and another reached the CIF State Southern Regional playoffs.
The athletic department also celebrated several standout individual accomplishments. Four student-athletes were recognized as CIF Southern Section Ford Athletes of the Year during Nolasco’s tenure, while the Saints crowned multiple league champions in track and field and swimming. St. Anthony also qualified 22 athletes for CIF Southern Section postseason competition across cross country, track and field and girls’ swimming.
The success extended beyond high school athletics as six Saints student-athletes signed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level during the past two years.
“I am proud of all the accolades the student-athletes and coaches have accomplished during these past two school years,” Nolasco wrote.
Nolasco arrived at St. Anthony ahead of the 2024-25 school year and quickly became a visible presence at Saints events, supporting programs across every season while working alongside coaches to strengthen the department. His leadership emphasized academic achievement alongside competitive success, a balance reflected in the department’s classroom accomplishments and postseason results.
