STORY: Two Long Beach Poly Athletic Teams Earn CIF State Academic Champion Honors

The562’s coverage of Long Beach Poly Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Former Jackrabbits Wendell “WoWo” Moe, Jr. & Tyson Ruffins.

Long Beach Poly will add a pair of banners to its collection after the California Interscholastic Federation announced its 40 State Academic Team Champions for the 2025-26 school year Thursday.

The Jackrabbits’ girls golf and boys wrestling teams earned the highest collective grade-point averages in California in their respective sports, making them CIF State Academic Team Champions.

Poly’s girls golf team posted a perfect 4.00 GPA, tying for the top mark in the state among girls golf programs. The boys wrestling team recorded a 3.87 GPA, the highest of any boys wrestling team statewide.

The CIF State Academic Team Champions program, established in 1996, recognizes teams with the highest cumulative GPAs based on an unweighted 4.0 scale. Teams must first win their respective section academic championships before advancing to the state level.
