The Wilson boys’ water polo team claimed a win over Jordan earlier this week to close out the regular season, capping off another undefeated Moore League campaign while earning their 18th straight league championship. It’s also the 45th league title in program history for what’s historically been one of the most dominant teams in the city.

The Bruins also faced a tough slate of non-league games throughout the season and finished with a 19-8 overall record. According to the CIF-SS’s latest rankings (Oct. 8), Wilson is ranked No. 7 and has already faced seven of the top 15 teams this season. They dropped matches to the three teams ranked above them in Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, and Mira Costa.

Before the season started, fourth-year coach Zac Polmanteer said the team’s goal was to make the Open Division this year after appearing in Division 1 last season. The program has previously won 10 championships in Division 1 before the Open Division was created.

The CIF-SS is releasing its final rankings and playoff brackets today at 2pm. The562 will have live updates on X/Twitter along with a roundup shortly after the release.
