Girls’ Golf: Millikan Wins Back-to-Back Undefeated Moore League Championships

The562’s coverage of Millikan Athletics for the 2025-26 school year is sponsored by Brian Ramsey and TLD Law.

Millikan Girls’ Golf clinched the Moore League title after sweeping the league in undefeated fashion for the second year in a row. Their 8-0 unbeaten record was topped off with a win over Long Beach Poly, where the Rams outshot the Jackrabbits 226-286 at El Dorado Golf Course.

“It’s obviously amazing,” senior Hailey Stoskopf said of the championship. “We’ve had such great success this season. Everyone has been practicing so hard, working so hard in the offseason, and I really feel like we put in the work to deserve this victory.”

This year’s team representing Millikan mirrored the same championship team as last year, making this year’s back-to-back undefeated title that much sweeter.

“The whole team was back this year, and for the same group of girls to do it two years in a row, I’m pretty proud of that,” Head Coach Robert Tomlin said.

In this group of successful returners were some of the city’s top golfers. All-Moore League First Team honorees Stoskopf and sophomore Jasmine Lim were two of Millikan’s biggest returners.

For Tomlin, he wasn’t surprised at his team’s success, especially from the senior Stoskopf. He said his team has been working hard on the green all year in preparation for season.

“This year I see the most confident Hailey that I’ve seen, and it’s really good to see as a senior,” Tomlin said.

As for the underclassmen Lim, the head coach acknowledged the outside work she’s been putting in to improve her game. The Rams will count on Lim to return for them in her final two years at Millikan.

“She’s just 100% dedicated to golf,” Tomlin said. “These last two weeks, she’s had her best rounds of her life. The hard work is paying off for her.”

Stoskopf and Lim led the Rams in each match as they chased the repeat championship title. In each of their Moore League face offs, neither returner shot over a 45 on any course.

The medalist honors were typically awarded to Stoskopf or Lim as being the lowest-scoring golfer on the green. The two had impressive showings throughout the season, including a rainy day against Cabrillo where Lim shot a 2 over par 38 and Stoskopf followed with 41.

With back-to-back Moore League titles in back-to-back undefeated seasons, Millikan is currently riding a 15-match win streak. This feat is impressive for any team, but it means a little more to the Rams.

“It feels good for us, because over the years, Millikan has been second place – I can’t tell you how many times – but just each year, we’ve been getting a little bit closer to now,” Tomlin said.

The Rams captured a CIF-SS Division 4 title three years ago when Stoskopf was a freshman. Now as two seniors graduate from the program this year, they hope to accomplish the same feat in a full circle moment.

“That was huge because we had never won a CIF championship in girls’ golf,” Tomlin said. “Any CIF championship is big, but that was the first one. They did it as freshmen, and they’ve just been great assets to the team.”

As her senior season comes to a close, Stoskopf said she has been putting in the work to bring that level of success back to her program. However, her focus is on each match as it comes, beginning with the Moore League Individual Tournament. The three day tournament begins Oct. 21.

“After last season, I really put in a lot of work and time in my game,” Stoskopf said. “Coming into this season, my senior year, I was definitely nervous, but we were hoping and kind of expecting another victory. It was just a lot of hard work, and obviously, while we’re done with our team play, we are hoping for individual victory this week.”
