After three dominant rounds, Wilson’s Bodie Barnes didn’t have to stress much as he cruised to the 2025 Moore League Boys’ Golf Individual Championship after Thursday’s final round at El Dorado Park Golf Course.

“I wasn’t really worried about the other people,” Barnes said. “I let some strokes go on the second day, but I think I kept it together pretty well.”

While Barnes kept a smile on his face throughout the final round, the sophomore did deal with the unexpected as his brother, Bryson, showed up on the final round to witness him keep the trophy in the family after Bryson won the title last season.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Bodie said about keeping the trophy with the family. “It was funny seeing (Bryson) out here. I didn’t expect him to come, but I want to beat his best through Moore League.”

While Barnes sat comfortably at the top finishing with a 299, there was a mad rush on Thursday as athletes tried to secure their position in the top seven spots to punch their ticket to CIF Individual tournament.

Millikan’s Daniel Anderson had the best score of the final round finishing even par. The final five spots to qualify for CIF were separated by eight strokes.

Wilson’s Dominic Macchia and Owen White tied for third and Millikan’s Zachary Wood and Wilson’s Jackson Case tied for fifth.

Rounding out the Moore League’s seven representatives for CIF was Millikan’s Tyler Carmichael who finished one stroke better than Wilson’s Ethan Lewis.

“Today my putter really wasn’t working for me,” Carmichael said. “So, it was a struggle. I had to mentally overcome some things. There was a lot of rough spots for me on the front nine and the first half of the back nine I really made no putts. So it was hard for me to keep my positivity and believe I can still do it. But I came into the last stretch of holes knowing my position. I was 2-3 back. Went to 17 and made a birdie and then finished 18.”
