HIGH SCHOOL

Asia Edwards, Jordan Basketball

Asia Edwards scored a team-high 12 points for Jordan in their second-round playoff win, as the Panthers reached the quarterfinals where they’ll host a Valentine’s Day game.

Melaiah Joseph, St. Anthony Basketball

St. Anthony guard Melaiah Joseph scored 15 of her 22 points in the first quarter of a comfortable playoff win that put the Saints into this week’s quarterfinal.

Jovani Ruff, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Jovani Ruff scored a game-high 20 points Long Beach Poly’s road win in the second round of the playoffs. Ruff said he loves playing on the road in the playoffs and it showed in the win over Upland.

Lincoln Dean, Cabrillo Basketball

Cabrillo standout Lincoln Dean led the way for the Jags with 21 points in their second-round win, which puts them into this week’s quarterfinals (where they’ll host a quarterfinal for the first time in school history).

Aaron De Leon, Millikan Soccer

Millikan’s Aaron De Leon proved once again why he might be the best boys’ soccer player in the city, scoring both goals in Millikan’s 2-0 win over Citrus Hill in the second round of the playoffs.

Michael Gutierrez, Lakewood Soccer

Michael Gutierrez helped Lakewood gain a quick lead with a goal in the third minute of a comfortable Lakewood boys’ soccer second-round playoff win.

Brooklyn Taylor, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Brooklyn Taylor led the way for Poly with 26 points in the Jackrabbits’ first-round playoff win against Chaminade in the CIF-SS Division 1 bracket.

Quincy Phillips, St. Anthony Basketball

Quincy Phillips led all scorers with 20 points in St. Anthony’s CIF-SS Division 2AA playoff opener win against Sonora, and led the team again in their second-round win over Loyola.
