HIGH SCHOOL

Kamarie Smith, Long Beach Poly Football

The Jackrabbits’ super sophomore had a breakout performance in a televised win over Mission Viejo last week. Smith had seven catches for 251 yards and three touchdowns in Poly’s win, the best single game for a Jackrabbit receiver in a decade-plus.

D’Jon Pittman, Cabrillo Football

Cabrillo super sophomore D’Jon Pittman led his Jaguars to their second win of the season, as they took down Verbum Dei in a lopsided win last week. Pittman had three touchdowns in the 49-0 win, including a 90-yard kickoff return, a six-yard run, and an 18-yard catch.

Simrin Adams, Wilson Volleyball

Wilson freshman Simrin Adams led Wilson to two wins last week, over St. Anthony and Millikan. She had 28 kills and seven aces in the two matches, while also leading the Bruins in hitting percentage.

COLLEGE

Brooklyn Antonucci, Long Beach State Soccer

Two strong performances from freshman Brooklyn Antonucci earned the defender a pair of Big West weekly awards, winning Big West Defensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week. In addition to her defensive prowess, she also assisted on two goals against Harvard, then led her team to a shutout win over Fresno State.
