HIGH SCHOOL

Tyree McCowen, Lakewood Football

Tyree McCowen is the unquestioned leader of the Lakewood defense this year and one of the best players in the Moore League. The senior led the Lancers to a thrilling win over San Dimas last week with 17 tackles including three for a loss, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

Kyle Parker, Millikan Football

Millikan running back Kyle Parker made his debut for the Rams and was fantastic with 180 yards rushing on 17 carries and a touchdown. He also had an interception on defense.

Deonte Tucker, Jordan Football

Deonte Tucker showed out at receiver for Jordan, scoring their only touchdown and creating a lead that the Panthers would hold to the end of the game. Tucker was so locked in he didn’t want to take his helmet off for his AOTW debut.

Tiare and Kiele Ho-Ching, Long Beach Poly Flag Football

Kiele and Tiare Ho-Ching paid tribute to their uncle Herman with two touchdown catches and six flag pulls, wearing his Poly and Oregon numbers while leading Poly to a blowout win over Serra in the Nike Kickoff Classic.

COLLEGE

Zayna Meyer, Long Beach State Volleyball

Setter Zayna Meyer piloted Long Beach State to a 3-1 victory over defending National Champion and top-ranked Texas on Friday night. Meyer distributed the ball well, logging 41 assists, getting three players in double figure kills as the Beach hit .223 as a team.
