The top-seed Wilson Bruins will have the opportunity to claim the CIF-SS Division 4 boys’ tennis championship on Friday, taking on Brea Olinda at The Claremont Club. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Wilson, led by head coach Nick Medina, survived a tough semifinal at El Segundo on Wednesday, advancing with a 10-8 victory. The Bruins’ earlier playoff wins were more comfortable, defeating Fairmont Prep (15-3), Yucca Valley (18-0), and Thacher (13-5) by wide margins.

After winning the program’s first Moore League boys’ tennis title since 2015, the Bruins are on the verge of winning what would be the school’s first CIF championship in boys’ tennis. This is also the first title match appearance for Wilson.

A Bruins win would also continue a terrific run for local tennis teams in Division 4. The Millikan boys won this same CIF title in 2021, and Long Beach Poly’s girls team claimed the D4 crown in 2022, the first for that program.

Brea Olinda defeated La Serna, 13-5, in their semifinal victory and have beaten opponents by an average of 9 points in their playoff run, winning each of their matches by at least 4 points.
