Cam Cecil delivered the walkoff hit for Long Beach State softball on Sunday in a 1-0 win over visiting UC Riverside to complete the Big West Conference series sweep.

LBSU starting pitcher Shannon Haddad allowed just two hits and struck out seven in her second complete game shutout of the weekend. She finished the weekend with 10 strikeouts over 14 scoreless innings.

The seventh inning really was sparked by a pair of Moore League products as pinch hitter Sinclair Lawhorn (WIlson) drew a leadoff walk, and Cassie Camou (Lakewood) ran for Lawhorn. Camou beat out the throw on the force on a grounder from Teah Thies to get into scoring position, and then Cecil drove her home for the winning run.

In the series opener on Saturday, Haddad picked up the win in the circle after LBSU scored all of its runs in the second inning for a 6-0 win.

The six runs are the most in one inning this season for the Beach. Sophomore Carly Robbins set the tone with a solo home run, Emily Salazar and Camou followed with back-to-back singles, and a walk to Cecil loaded the bases. After an RBI groundout scored one more run, singles from Jacquelyn Bickar, Sara Olson and Corissa Sweet brought home four more.

In the second game on Saturday, Camou delivered the walkoff hit to scored Corissa Sweet and cap a 2-1 comeback victory.

The Beach (13-14, 3-0) continues Big West play at UC Davis next weekend.
