Baseball: Long Beach Poly Coach Brent Lavoie Placed on Administrative Leave

Long Beach Poly baseball coach Brent Lavoie has been placed on administrative leave by the Long Beach Unified School District as of Thursday afternoon, according to the district. Lavoie and Poly administrators declined to comment, directing inquiries to the LBUSD. The district confirmed that Lavoie has been placed on leave from teaching and coaching “pending a personnel matter” but declined to comment further on an ongoing investigation “due to rules protecting employee confidentiality.”

The Jackrabbits are currently 3-1 and poised to start Moore League play next year.

It’s the second time this year that the LBUSD placed a coach on leave while investigating, with Millikan football coach Romeo Pellum placed on leave and then reinstated two weeks later upon conclusion of the district’s investigation.

Poly assistant coach and alum Curtis Thompson will be the Jackrabbits’ interim coach while Lavoie is on leave.

We’ll update the story as more information becomes available.
