Girls’ Basketball CIF-SS Brackets Announced

The CIF Southern Section girls’ basketball brackets were released on Sunday afternoon, with four Long Beach teams making the postseason. Long Beach Poly, Lakewood, Wilson, and Jordan will all compete in games starting on Thursday, with the Moore League champion Jackrabbits and the Lancers both hosting home games that night. Teams that advance would play a second round game on Saturday.

Division 1

Seventeen-time Moore League champions Long Beach Poly (18-7) will once again compete in Division 1 and earned a home game due to their league finish. The Jackrabbits will host Alemany (13-12) in the first round Thursday night, and would travel to Esperanza on Saturday with a victory.

Division 2AA

In Division 2AA, Wilson will open on the road thanks to a third-place finish in the Moore League. The Bruins (11-11) will open up the playoffs on the road at South Pasadena on Thursday. With a win they’d travel to Redondo Union on Saturday.

Division 3A

Lakewood has had a great season with a 24-4 record (with two of those losses coming to league champ and Division 1 participant Poly). The Lancers got the two-seed in Division 3A and will host Bishop on Thursday in the first round. With a win, Lakewood would face the winner of Hawthorne and Campbell Hall.

Division 4AA

Jordan (16-11) is back in the playoffs thanks to a fourth-place finish in the Moore League this year. The Panthers’ goal is to get some wins in the playoffs–to do so they’ll have to pick up a road win as they open up at Whittier on Thursday. With a win they’d face Foothill Tech or Glendale on Saturday.
