HIGH SCHOOL

Jackson Cryst, Millikan Basketball

Millikan’s Jackson Cryst had a historic game in a win over Compton last week, putting up the eye-popping stat line of 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 blocks. That 20 blocks ties the state record for most ever in a single game by a California high school player.

Jaymari Redmond, Jordan Basketball

Jordan finished the first round of Moore League play undefeated, and Jaymari Redmond is a big reason why. He had 20 points in a win over Jordan last week and hit a buzzer-beating three to tie the game with Lakewood and send it to OT, where the Panthers went on to win..

Brooklyn Taylor, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly is alone in first place after impressive wins over Millikan and Lakewood. Against the Rams Taylor had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 8 steals, and 2 blocks, and she followed that up with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds against the previously-unbeaten Lancers.

Jennine Osorio, Millikan Water Polo

Millikan took control of second place behind Wilson with a critical win on the road against Long Beach Poly last week, with captain Jennine Osorio leading the way with four goals for the Rams.

Adrianna Sambrano, Wilson Basketball

Wilson was able to come back and beat an upset-hungry Jordan team (who would record their first win over Millikan in more than a decade a few days later), thanks in large part to Adrianna Sambrano. She had a breakout second quarter where she poured in 11 of her game-high 18 points, flipping the scoreboard.
