HIGH SCHOOL

Nyemah King, Lakewood Basketball

Sophomore Nyemah King had a game-high 23 points against Millikan to lead the Lancers to a big win over the Rams.

Emmalee Ekblad, Millikan Soccer

Emmalee Ekblad scored the first goal for Millikan in an impressive 2-0 win at Long Beach Poly that puts the Rams alone in first place in the league.

Jade Green, Wilson Basketball

Senior Jade Green led the way for the Bruins in a win over Millikan, scoring 14 points including 10 straight in the third quarter.

Mason Pacheco, Lakewood Basketball

Lakewood ended the first week of Moore League play tied for first place with Jordan after a big win over Poly. Mason Pacheco had a huge game in the victory against the Jackrabbits, scoring 17 points including several clutch second-half baskets.

Austin Unegbu, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly was in danger of falling to 0-2 in the Moore League when they trailed Wilson at halftime last week. But sophomore Austin Unegbu helped lead a turnaround for Poly with 14 points, five steals, and two assists in the second half.

Martin Robles Ruiz, Cabrillo Soccer

Cabrillo’s Martin Robles Ruiz led the Jaguars to an impressive win over Long Beach Poly, scoring twice in the first eight minutes to secure the win; he now has 13 goals on the season for Cabrillo

David Villanueva, Millikan Soccer

Millikan’s David Villanueva led the Rams to a 3-0 win over Cabrillo that put Millikan atop the Moore League standings. He had a handful of shots as well as the first goal in the shutout victory.

COLLEGE

Kristyna Jeskeova, Long Beach State Basketball

Kristyna Jeskeova averaged a double-double last week with 15.5 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game as she was named to the Beach Classic All-Tournament Team. Jeskeova shot 57.1 percent (12-21) from the field and totaled 31 points, 25 rebounds, six steals, three blocks, and two assists.
