HIGH SCHOOL

Xavier Jones, Long Beach Poly Football

Long Beach Poly sophomore running back Xavier Jones had a breakout performance against Millikan last week, as the speedy back put up 15 carries for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Jones left the game early with injury.

Ian Bond, Wilson Football

Wilson quarterback Ian Bond helped lead his team to victory against Cabrillo last week, as Bond put up three touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air in the win.

Rahkeen Moore, Lakewood Football

Rahkeen Moore is the unquestioned leader of the Lakewood defense that helped lead the Lancers to a win over Jordan. Moore had a key interception and also led the Lancers in tackles.

Cameron Rhone, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly senior Cameron Rhone won one of the most exciting Moore League cross country races in memory, running defending league champion Jason Parra down and passing him just before the finish line to win by 0.10 seconds. Rhone’s three-mile time was 14:17.24.

Avery Peck, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly freshman Avery Peck was dominant in her first Moore League race, winning by more than a minute over her next closest competitor. Peck finished the three-mile course in 17:50.18.

Samarah DaCoud, Lakewood Volleyball

Lakewood stayed undefeated in the Moore League with a four-set win over Long Beach Poly last week, and once again it was senior Samarah DaCoud who led the way. DaCoud had 18 kills in the match to lead the Lancers.

COLLEGE

Sarah Medik, Long Beach State Tennis

Austrian native Sarah Medik was outstanding for the Beach at the San Diego State Fall Classic, winning her singles flight championship and also winning the double crown as well to help lead the Beach to a strong overall performance.
