St. Anthony concludes its non-league schedule on Friday night at 7 p.m. with a home game against Campbell Hall, hosted at St. Pius X-St. Matthias HS in Downey.

The Saints are 2-3 and winners of two straight thanks to a comfortable 48-29 win over Marina last week. St. Anthony started 0-3 last season before winning 9 of their next 10 on their way to a CIF title game, and will look to do something similar this season.

However, they’ll need to clear a key hurdle this week as Campbell Hall comes in at 6-0 on the season, beating St. Anthony’s Del Rey League rival St. Genevieve, 23-6, last week. The Vikings have outscored their opponents 190-51 this season, continuing an impressive run that dates back to 2020. Since that season, Campbell Hall is a combined 19-2.

The Vikings’ offense runs through junior RB Kamar Mothudi, who is averaging a whopping 9.7 yards per carry with nine touchdowns on the season. Sophomore Mingus Allen is at QB, where he’s tossed for 1,168 yards and 11 TDS this year, spreading the ball out well. The Vikings have seven receivers with at least 100 yards through the air.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony freshman Noah Furlow stepped into the QB role last week and had some early success. Playmakers like RB Elijah Lolesio-Pua and WR Darius Davis will need to continue their solid play to help the Saints keep pace on the scoreboard.
