BREAKING: Millikan Football Forfeits Four Wins

For the second time in two weeks, a Moore League team is forfeiting the first portion of its season. Millikan assistant principal over athletics Daniel Yu confirmed Thursday afternoon that the Rams are forfeiting their four wins so far this season due to use of an ineligible player.

“We’ve been informed by the (CIF) regarding an eligibility issue with one of our players, and we are forfeiting our games that we’ve won up to this point,” he said.

In addition, Millikan coach Angel Molina will be the Rams’ interim head coach in place of Millikan head coach Romeo Pellum. Yu declined comment on the coaching situation.

“We’re hoping that this gets resolved quickly for the sake of our student-athletes, they’ve put in a lot of work,” he said.

Millikan is now 0-5 but still has a path to playoffs as they prepare for a big game at home Friday night against Jordan. The top three Moore League teams qualify for the playoffs; the Rams are now 0-1 on the standings box after forfeiting their league win over Wilson, but still have five other games remaining.

This is the second forfeit by a Moore League team in as many weeks; Cabrillo forfeit their 4-0 start last week, also due to use of an ineligible player.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as we learn more, check back frequently.
