Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship.

Gabe Cummings, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Long Beach Poly senior Gabe Cummings had the game of his life in the semifinals last week. Cummings went 4/4 from beyond the arc in the second half as part of a 25-point performance on the road, including the game-winner with less than a minute.

Anthony Eyanson, Lakewood Baseball

Lakewood baseball put the Moore League on notice over the last few weeks as the Lancers earned their way into the Loara Tournament championship game, which they lost to Servite. Lakewood ace Anthony Eyanson pitched a complete game in a 4-2 semifinal win. Eyanson was named Loara Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Lena Kotanchyan, Long Beach State Water Polo

Lena Kotanchyan scored 12 goals this weekend as the Beach went 2-2 at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational. Kotanchyan scored two goals during LBSU’s victory over ASU and had a hat trick against UC Davis to wrap up the tournament with the win.

Alex Nikolov, Long Beach State Volleyball

Freshman Alex Nikolov was a star for Long Beach State yet again last weekend, this time in a sweep victory over Stanford. Nikolov led the Beach in kills with nine but starred from the end line as he ripped off five consecutive aces in the second set.
