After taking the season opening series at No. 3 Mississippi, the Long Beach State Dirtbags have moved up to No. 6 in the national rankings while first baseman Jonathon Long and pitcher Luis Ramirez have swept the Big West Conference weekly awards.

Long took the Big West Field Player of the Week honor after collecting at least one hit and one RBI in all three games. The sophomore slashed .545/.583/1.182 with two home runs, five RBI, and four runs scored.

Ramirez retired the first 14 batters he faced on Friday night on his way to six hitless innings. The sophomore righty surrendered two walks and only two balls were hit out of the infield.
The Dirtbags host Sacramento State this weekend for the home opening series.
