Wilson Boys’ Soccer Wins Moore League Championship

A win over Compton at home on Wednesday clinched the Moore League boys’ soccer championship for Wilson. It is the second league title in the last four years for the Bruins.

“I’ve been waiting for this for so long and it’s great to do it with this group of people,” Wilson captain Cole Worden said. “I just saw (the 2019 Wilson league title) from afar and I knew I needed to be able to do that. It was due time. We’ve been training so hard for years and it was so fun.”

This is the 10th boys’ soccer league title in school history since the league started in 1983.

“It’s all about all of the stuff you can’t see when we’re playing,” Wilson coach CJ Brewer said. “The hours and days of work these boys have put in. We train a little different, and the boys bought in and it shows out on the field. We don’t play the prettiest style of soccer, but it’s effective.”

Wilson concentrated hard on solidifying its defense this season and only allowed three goals during league play.
