Long Beach Boys’ Basketball Preview 2021-22

Last basketball season was a tumultuous one for Long Beach and much of the rest of Southern California. Long Beach high school teams launched their seasons on less than two weeks notice, some of them after just a handful of practices following a summer and fall without the typical practice games.

This year, coaches at every school said they’re happy to have their feet under them and to be working in a slightly more normal environment, although testing and masks are likely to still be a regular part of the upcoming season.

Expectations are high with four of the eight local teams (St. Anthony, Poly, Compton, and Lakewood) making the preseason CIF-SS watch list of top teams.
