PREVIEW: Moore League Cross Country Finals

The Moore League cross country season will come to an end on Wednesday evening at Heartwell Park. The varsity races are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. start times.

Long Beach Poly is the heavy favorite to sweep both the girls’ and boys’ team titles after comfortable victories in the El Dorado and Signal Hill meet. Scores are weighted more heavily for league finals, but the Jackrabbits appear to have enough breathing room and overall depth to secure those team titles.

Individually, Millikan sophomore Jason Parra is the favorite to win his second consecutive league title, but the first at Heartwell. Parra was a comfortable winner at last year’s Moore League finals, run at Cabrillo High School.

On the girls’ side, Poly junior Camille Lindsay has been dominant in the first two league races. She was a fourth-place finisher in last year’s league finals while running on an injured ankle, so she’ll be eager to reclaim the title she won as a freshman in 2019.

Follow along with The562 as we’ll have live updates from the varsity races, along with full coverage of the meet later on tonight.
