High School Football Preview: St. Anthony at Mary Star of the Sea

St. Anthony looks to remain undefeated in Del Rey League play when they travel to San Pedro to face Mary Star of the Sea today. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Saints (4-3) are in the midst of a four-game winning streak and all four wins have been decided by at least 10 points.

In last Friday’s 35-21 win over La Salle, the Saints struggled early on before senior running back Sone Auipu took charge with 233 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

St. Anthony’s defense, led by senior Eric Suluai, played very well in the second half and forced the Lancers to alter their offensive game plan.

The Stars (3-3) have lost two in a row including 27-10 to Harvard-Westlake last Saturday.

Sophomore quarterback Sanitago Martinez has 10 passing touchdowns and three rushing scores and senior running back Nathan Chavez is averaging over 100 rushing yards per game. He also has eight rushing touchdowns.

The Saints have won the last seven meetings between the two teams including a 34-7 victory last year.
