High School Football Preview: Wilson vs. Cabrillo

Wilson is still searching for its first win of the season and it has a great opportunity to grab it tonight in Moore League play against visiting Cabrillo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

“It’s been a little frustrating,” Wilson first-year coach Scott Meyer said. “We’ll get a great drive going and then hurt ourselves. It’s hard because there’s so many bright spots but the mistakes are really glaring.”

Wilson (0-4, 0-1) gave up 21 points without their defense on the field last week in its first loss to Compton in more than a decade. Meyer added that he wants his players to enjoy their time on the field this week in order to get out of their funk.

“I want to put together a complete game on offense, defense and special teams,” he said. “I also want our guys to go out and have some fun. It’s been rough for them. No one wants to go 0-4. I want then to enjoy themselves.”

Cabrillo (1-4, 0-1) lost to Lakewood last week after picking up its first win over Lynwood.
