High School Football Preview: Jordan at St. Paul

The Jordan Panthers will look to continue their strong start to the season when they travel to Santa Fe Springs to face the St. Paul Swordsmen tonight. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers (2-1) are coming off of a 36-20 win over Fairfax last Thursday and junior Damian Henderson had a great performance.

Henderson, an Athlete of the Week honoree, had three touchdowns: an 80-yard kickoff return, a 20-yard run, and a 50-yard punt return for a score.

Jordan had a similar fast start in 2019 when they started 3-0 but ended the season 4-6.

The Swordsmen (2-0) have outscored their opponents, 103-14, in their two victories and made the Division V championship in 2019, losing to Aquinas, 21-16.

St. Paul didn’t play last week.

Senior quarterback Isaiah Dunn has three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) and sophomore running back Christian Melendez has 196 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

After three straight Thursday games, this is the Panthers’ first Friday game of the season.
