High School Football Preview: St. Anthony at Wilson

There’s a lot at stake when St. Anthony and Wilson duel it out tonight at Wilson.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The two schools, separated by less than three miles, will take part in another edition of the “Battle for 7th St.”

Both the Bruins (0-2) and Saints (0-3) enter the game looking for their first wins of the season.

Coaches Raul Lara (St. Anthony) and Scott Meyer (Wilson) are hoping to get their first wins at their respective schools.

The rivalry has been all Wilson since 2014 as the Bruins won five of six meetings with the Saints only victory coming in 2017 (14-6).

The Saints are coming off of a 47-8 loss to Millikan and will need to make improvements on the offensive side of the ball after struggling to get first downs against the Rams.

Wilson was only able to practice twice before its 35-6 loss to Huntington Beach last week after the Bruins had team activities, including their scheduled Week 2 game at San Jacinto, canceled due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program.
