Aqualand Sponsors The562’s Water Polo Coverage for 2021-22

All of The562’s water polo coverage for the 2021-22 school year has been sponsored by Aqualand–a family-run business founded by Matty & Lesley Mitchell. Aqualand offers a variety of camps for children and adults covering various aquatic activities including surfing and water polo.

The sponsorship will help offset The562’s costs in producing season previews, game recaps, highlight videos, photo galleries, feature stories and more for the sport of water polo in 2021-22.

“Our goal at Aqualand is to grow an appreciation for the ocean and waterways in and around Long Beach, The Aquatic Capital of America,” said Lesley Mitchell on Aqualand’s mission, and its sponsorship of The562’s coverage. “Through our year-round surf, waterman and beginner water polo programs, we are building a generation of aquatic athletes who will carry the stoke for the 562 into their adult lives. As a family-run business, we value our Long Beach community and we couldn’t be happier to partner with The562 to support their water polo coverage.”

The562 has taken a creative approach in fundraising, finding new ways to support local sports and education reporting. In order to maintain The562’s existing levels of coverage, while also providing the content at no cost to our readers, sponsorships are a needed component of our business model moving forward.

“We’re so grateful for Aqualand’s support for our water polo coverage this year,” said The562.org publisher Andy Kerr. “Long Beach has such a rich aquatic tradition and Aqualand is working to continue that legacy. Their passion for youth sports makes them natural partners in supporting and highlighting Long Beach’s aquatic athletes.”

This is the second sport-specific sponsorship for the 2021-22 school year. Bryson agreed to sponsor The562.org’s cross-country coverage this season.
