The Saints enter their 10th season under head coach Alicia Lemau’u, who led St. Anthony to a CIF-SS championship in 2016. Lemau’u’s group is a good mix of experience and young talent, and she’s hoping to mold them into a league title contender by the end of the season.

“I’m proud of the resilience that these student-athletes have maintained throughout this chaotic time,” she said. “Just to be able to pass uniforms out to teams is an accomplishment in itself this year. With our young group, learning and revamping our Saints tradition and culture is the motto.”

Lemau’u’s program continues to grow along with the sport’s increased popularity in the city, and the Saints will field a frosh/soph team for the first time this year.

The leader on the court will be four-year setter Antonia Bareford, the younger sister of former Saints star Isabella Bareford, now at LMU.

“She has one of the top volleyball IQs I’ve been around and has experience in many areas,” said Lemau’u. “She’s going to be a great leader for us.”

Junior middle blocker Rylee Tuaolo and sophomore libero Annalee Smith are hoping to make big splashes in their debuts this season.
