Wilson Baseball Has Great Summer With American Legion

American Legion baseball is back for the first time since 2019 and the Wilson Bruins advanced to the State tournament this week in Fresno. The event is usually in Napa, but Wilson coach Andy Hall said that’s the only difference.

“It’s been a good trip,” Hall said. “It’s nice to be up here with the kids and give them a chance to bond.”

Wilson went 17-1 this summer and beat Carson, El Segundo, Lakewood and Millikan in the Area 4 tournament to advance to the State competition. Senior pitcher Charlie Royle has been fantastic lately and had a no-hitter going in the Area 4 championship game against Millikan. The Bruins held on to win 3-2 and Hall said his players were proud to beat the recent CIF Southern Section champions.

Wilson was joined by Patrick Henry, Oceanside, Napa Valley, Merced and Petaluma at the State tournament. On Monday, the Bruins were one win away from playing for the State championship but lost to Napa in the semifinals.
