Baseball Basketball Golf Long Beach Poly Millikan Wilson’s Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to all of our Athletes of the Week, and thanks to Naples Rib Company for their sponsorship. This is the final AOTW of the school year, but we’ll be back in the Fall 🙂

Simone Morris, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Long Beach Poly senior Simone Morris had her best game of the year in the CIF State Division 1 Southern California Regional championship last week. Morris guarded Rosary’s best player and also poured in 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

Nala Williams, Long Beach Poly Basketball

Poly got big games from junior Nala Williams in the first two rounds of the state playoffs, as she put up 16 points against Hamilton and then 17 points against Esperanza to help boost the Jackrabbits into the Regional championship game.

Cameron Sims, Millikan Baseball

Rams senior Cameron Sims was a big part of the team’s dominant defense, which gave up just two runs in five games in the playoffs. Sims pitched 3.1 innings and gave up just one hit as part of a complete-game shutout in the championship.

Daniel Murillo, Millikan Baseball

Daniel Murillo started the CIF-SS championship game at shortstop, then came in to relieve Sims and to complete the shutout. Murillo gave up two hits in 3.2 innings to close out the 2-0 win for the Rams.

Emi Sverduk, Wilson Golf

Wilson’s Emi Sverduk has rewritten the history book at Wilson, and added another big honor last week by claiming the individual championship at the CIF State Southern Regional, with a three-under par round. Sverduk also won the individual Moore League title this year.
