Indoor Rain Delay Postpones Long Beach State vs. Riverside

Indoor rain delays aren’t a regular occurrence in sports, but 2020 isn’t a regular year. A day after the Long Beach State women’s basketball team beat UC Riverside by 30 points, the two teams were unable to play the second half of their back-to-back series because the roof of The Walter Pyramid was leaking during Monday’s rainstorm.

There was a large leak off court that was corralled by a trash can, but when water started hitting the court in two separate spots in front of the visitors’ bench, officials pulled the teams off the court during warmups. After an hour of waiting for it to stop raining (and the roof to stop leaking), the game was officially postponed. The two teams will meet again at UC Riverside Tuesday at 4 p.m. to finish the series.
