Lacrosse Preview: Ellen Ochoa Academy

The odd school out in the new Moore League arrangement is Ellen Ochoa Prep Academy, the Pico Rivera-based private school that joined the league to allow it playoff eligibility.

Girls’ coach Becky Alvarez is excited to see her team hang with the big schools.

“We would like to exceed the expectations to put our school, team, and league on the map,” she said. “A lot of these girls want to play college lacrosse and we hope to get them there.”

The team’s top players are goalie Brittany Cortez, who made over 150 stops last year, seniors Sheila Marin and Jackie Hernandez, juniors Leslie Gonzalez and Jada Risper, and sophomore Aracely Munoz.
