HIGH SCHOOL

Jabari Steward, Compton Basketball

Compton’s Jabari Steward helped lead his team to its first win over Long Beach Poly in a few years on Monday, handing the Jackrabbits their first Moore League loss of the season. Compton was boosted by Steward’s 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Bonard Johnson, Lakewood Basketball

Compton wasn’t the only team to beat Poly last week. Lakewood took down the Jackrabbits at the end of the week as well, thanks to the super scoring of senior guard Bonard Johnson, who had 35 points for the Lancers in their win.

Aniah Cutler, Long Beach Poly Soccer

Poly senior and Washington State signee Aniah Cutler had a signature performance in an upset of Wilson last week, scoring a hat trick on the road against the Bruins to give Poly a 3-2 win and take Wilson out of first place in the Moore League hunt.

Sydney Ross, Wilson Basketball

Wilson’s Sydney Ross had a big game against Millikan last week to give the Bruins their first win over the Rams since 2012. Ross had nine points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals, with only one turnover. Ross impacted every aspect of the game in the big win for Wilson.
