HIGH SCHOOL

Ronan McMahon-Staggs, Long Beach Poly Cross Country

Long Beach Poly senior Ronan McMahon-Staggs led his Jackrabbits back to the CIF Southern Section Cross Country Finals with a strong performance at last week’s prelims. McMahon-Staggs finished eighth in Poly’s heat with a time of 15:33 to pace the Jackrabbits to first place overall in their heat.

Zami Moscoco, Wilson Cross Country

Wilson senior Zami Moscoco helped make history for Wilson at last week’s cross country prelims, finishing 13th in the Bruins’ heat with a time of 15:43. Wilson qualified for the CIF-SS Finals for the first time since 2008, an especially impressive accomplishment since Caden Elsesser suffered an injury mid-race.

Adonia Faumuina, Long Beach Poly Volleyball

Long Beach Poly dominated Liberty in Bakersfield to advance to the State quarterfinals last week, where they were eliminated by top seed Sierra Canyon. Poly sophomore Adonia Faumuina had seven kills, 12 assists, eight digs, three blocks, and four aces in the sweep win and 10 kills, 16 assists, four digs, and three blocks in the loss.

COLLEGE

Tia Chavira, Long Beach State Volleyball

Tia Chavira moved from setter to outside hitter and made the most of her performance as she led the Beach in kills with a career-high 14 against UCSB, before besting that with a new career-high of 16 versus Cal Poly.
