The Avalon 8-Man football team continued its winning streak on Saturday with a 54-16 victory at St. Michael’s Prep. The Lancers (5-3, 4-0) are tied atop the Express League with Sage Hill, and will visit the Lightning on Friday for a league championship game.
Junior Adalberto Martinez had five touchdowns and 320 all-purpose yards on the day. The receiver caught four touchdowns and returned a kickoff 78 yards for another score. Martinez also had 10 tackles and two interceptions on defense.
Martinez currently ranks second in the country for both 11 and 8-Man football with 1,625 receiving yards, according to MaxPreps.
Avalon has scored 434 points this season while gaining 3,366 total yards.
